

 {"id":30,"date":"2015-11-01T14:47:57","date_gmt":"2015-11-01T13:47:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/uvi.lf1.cuni.cz\/en\/?page_id=30"},"modified":"2021-08-30T21:42:58","modified_gmt":"2021-08-30T19:42:58","slug":"faq","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/uvi.lf1.cuni.cz\/en\/faq\/","title":{"rendered":"FAQ"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"pf-content\"><h2>Registration for the library<\/h2>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion wc-shortcodes-item wc-shortcodes-accordion-collapse wc-shortcodes-accordion-layout-box\" data-behavior=\"autoclose\" data-start-state=\"collapse\">\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-trigger \"><a href=\"#\">Who can become a registered user of the library?<\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content wc-shortcodes-content\">\n<p>The Institute of Scientific Information (ISI) provides services mainly for the staff of the 1st FM (members of the academic staff and researchers), for students of all accredited fields of study at the 1<sup>st<\/sup> FM, for the GUH staff, students and staff of other CU faculties, CU alumni, specialized institutions, and professional pubic.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-trigger \"><a href=\"#\">What do I need for registration?<\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content wc-shortcodes-content\">\n<p>In order to use our library services, it is necessary to have a<span style=\"color: #000080;\"> <strong><u><a href=\"https:\/\/prukazy.cuni.cz\/\">CU ID card<\/a><\/u><\/strong><\/span>, which can be obtained at the <span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong><u>CU Point<\/u><\/strong><\/span>. There are different types of this card: for students, CU staff, CU Alumni Club members or card for external members (those who are not studying or working at the CU).<\/p>\n<p>The registration for the ISI library \u2013 as well as for all libraries of the Charles University \u2013 is done via an electronic registration form. By filling the registration form, the user confirms he\/she would observe the <span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cuni.cz\/UKEN-1167.html\">Charles University Library and Circulation Rules<\/a><\/strong> <\/span>and consents to processing of his\/her personal data. Prior to filling-in the e-registration, you will be asked to log in via the Charles University Central Authentication Service (to be able to do this, you need to know your personal number and your valid password). If your contact information is not up-to-date, it needs to be changed in the <span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong><u><a href=\"https:\/\/is.cuni.cz\/webapps\/?forward=whois2%2F&amp;lang=cs\">WhoIS<\/a><\/u><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>system (section Mo\u017enosti: Moje osobn\u00ed a kontaktn\u00ed \u00fadaje &gt; Kontakty) prior to giving your consent. A change of your permanent address can only be done when you visit the student\/personnel department at your faculty.<\/p>\n<p>If you want to change your contact information after having given your consent, you need to visit any library of the Charles University.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Users with an <em>external user<\/em> CU ID card<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>An electronic user registration is available to both CU users (students and staff) and general public users, providing they have collected their external user CU ID card in one of the <strong><u><a href=\"https:\/\/cuni.cz\/UK-3249.html\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">card service centres<\/span><\/a><\/u><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong><u><a href=\"https:\/\/ckis.cuni.cz\/registrace\/souhlas\/prelogin\">Electronic registration form<\/a><\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-trigger \"><a href=\"#\">How much does the registration cost and for how long is it valid?<\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content wc-shortcodes-content\">\n<p>The registration for the ISI library is free of charge for all user categories. The length of a user registration depends on the user category: <em>student<\/em> a <em>doctoral student<\/em> for 3 years, <em>internship student<\/em> &#8211; 6 months, <em>employee<\/em> &#8211; 5 years, <em>CU co-operator<\/em> and <em>public<\/em> for 1 year. After this period has run out, the registration can be renewed.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-trigger \"><a href=\"#\">I have lost my CU ID card, may I still register for the library?<\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content wc-shortcodes-content\">\n<p>Unfortunately, no. Without a valid personalized CU ID card, we cannot process your registration.<br \/>\nIn case you have lost your CU ID card, it is your duty to notify the ISI library and the CU Point as soon as possible \u2013 you can use this <span style=\"color: #000080;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cuni.cz\/UK-2382.html\">online form<\/a><\/span>. It is in your own interest because otherwise, your card could be misused. If a user does not report a lost or stolen ID card, he\/she is liable for any damage that arises in consequence of his\/her violation of obligations.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-trigger \"><a href=\"#\">Do I need to inform the library about changes in my personal data myself or does it update automatically?<\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content wc-shortcodes-content\">\n<p>Yes, it\u00b4s mandatory for users to inform the library about every change in their personal data, such as name, address, e-mail address, termination\/interruption of their study etc.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Loans and other services<\/h2>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion wc-shortcodes-item wc-shortcodes-accordion-collapse wc-shortcodes-accordion-layout-box\" data-behavior=\"autoclose\" data-start-state=\"collapse\">\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-trigger \"><a href=\"#\">What are the Loan Rules and where do I find them?<\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content wc-shortcodes-content\">\n<p>Every registered user is obliged to follow the Library Rules of the Charles University (<a href=\"https:\/\/cuni.cz\/UKEN-1167.html\">Rector&#8217;s Directive No. 36\/2019<\/a>) and the Code of Operation and of the Loan Rules and other Codes of Rules of the Institute of Scientific Information of the First Faculty of Medicine of Charles University and General University Hospital in Prague (<a href=\"https:\/\/uvi.lf1.cuni.cz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/15_2019_provozni_rad.pdf\">Dean&#8217;s Measure No. 15\/2019<\/a>), as well as their changes, which might be announced in future. A printed version of both these documents can be found in the library. There is an English translation of the ISI Loan Rules Appendices on our <a href=\"https:\/\/uvi.lf1.cuni.cz\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Appendix1-2_loan_rules.pdf\">website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-trigger \"><a href=\"#\">Is it possible to borrow a document for the maximum loan period straightaway?<\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content wc-shortcodes-content\">\n<p>You cannot borrow a document for the maximum loan period straightaway, you need to extend the period one time after another. If someone has placed a reservation on the book, it is no longer possible to extend the loan period.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-trigger \"><a href=\"#\">Where do I find strictly in-house loans?<\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content wc-shortcodes-content\">\n<p><em>Strictly in-house loans<\/em> are available in the study room (on the 1<sup>st<\/sup> floor of the library building). These may not be borrowed home under any circumstances.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-trigger \"><a href=\"#\">What do I need to enter the study room? Where do I leave my coat and bags?<\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content wc-shortcodes-content\">\n<p>You are allowed to enter the study room only with a valid user ID. Without your CU ID card, you will not be allowed to enter. On the ISI premises, we run a cloakroom. The cloakroom je designated solely for the users of the study room to temporarily store their outerwear (coats, jackets, caps etc.), umbrellas or hand luggage (rucksacks, backpacks, bags) of reasonable standard size and weight in. For operational reasons, it is not possible to leave baggage of larger size and weight neither in the cloakroom nor anywhere else on the ISI premises.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-trigger \"><a href=\"#\">May I borrow a document using someone else\u2019s CU ID card?<\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content wc-shortcodes-content\">\n<p>No. No document may borrowed using someone else\u2019s CU ID card.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-trigger \"><a href=\"#\">May I pick up a book for a colleague\/fellow student using their CU ID card?<\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content wc-shortcodes-content\">\n<p>No. No document may borrowed using someone else\u2019s CU ID card.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-trigger \"><a href=\"#\">Can I check the status of my user account and my loans online?<\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content wc-shortcodes-content\">\n<p>Yes, you may check your user account online in the Discovery Service <a href=\"https:\/\/ukaz.cuni.cz\/en\">UKA\u017d <\/a>(login in the upper left corner).<br \/>\nUseful tutorials on the UKA\u017d Discovery can be found on the ISI pages, section <u><a href=\"https:\/\/uvi.lf1.cuni.cz\/en\/tutorials\/\">Tutorials<\/a><\/u>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-trigger \"><a href=\"#\">Can I extend the loan period and place reservations from home or Is it necessary to come to the library in person?<\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content wc-shortcodes-content\">\n<p>Yes, you can extend your loans and place reservation in the <a href=\"https:\/\/ukaz.cuni.cz\/en\">UKA\u017d<\/a><u><\/u>. There is no need to come to the library in person.<br \/>\nAll tutorials on operating your user account can be found on the ISI pages, section <u><a href=\"https:\/\/uvi.lf1.cuni.cz\/en\/tutorials\/\">Tutorials<\/a><\/u>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-trigger \"><a href=\"#\">Will I be notified in advance that the loan period of the books I have borrowed is about to end?<\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content wc-shortcodes-content\">\n<p>Yes, 3 days before the end of the loan period, the system automatically sends a message (so-called alert) alerting you that need to return or extend your loan soon. You can check the status of your user account yourself after logging in to the <a href=\"https:\/\/ukaz.cuni.cz\/en\">UKA\u017d<\/a><u><\/u>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-trigger \"><a href=\"#\">Is it possible to print, copy, and scan in the library? Do I pay for these services?<\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content wc-shortcodes-content\">\n<p>Yes, it is possible to use self-service printing, copying, and scanning services in the ISI building. Greyscale and full colour multipurpose printing devices are available. You log in and pay using the system MyQ.<br \/>\nAll information on the reprographic services can be found on the webpages of the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.lf1.cuni.cz\/myq\">1<sup>st<\/sup> Faculty of Medicine CU<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-trigger \"><a href=\"#\">How do I create an copying\/printing account and how do I deposit credit on my CU ID card?<\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content wc-shortcodes-content\">\n<p>Information on how to create the account and all you need to know about copying, printing and logging-in to the MyQ system can be found on the webpages of the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.lf1.cuni.cz\/myq\">1<sup>st<\/sup> Faculty of Medicine CU<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-trigger \"><a href=\"#\">Is there a Wi-Fi in the library\/study room? How do I connect to it?<\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content wc-shortcodes-content\">\n<p>Yes, the whole building has an Eduroam network coverage. Thorough information are available on the webpages of the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.lf1.cuni.cz\/wifi-en\">1<sup>st<\/sup> Faculty of Medicine CU<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Penalties, lost documents, and compensation<\/h2>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion wc-shortcodes-item wc-shortcodes-accordion-collapse wc-shortcodes-accordion-layout-box\" data-behavior=\"autoclose\" data-start-state=\"collapse\">\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-trigger \"><a href=\"#\">Is there an overdue fine for returning a document late? How much do I get charged for a day?<\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content wc-shortcodes-content\">\n<p>The usual overdue fine is 3 CZK\/day\/document. For the days, when the library is closed, no extra fines are charged.\u00a0The first 3 overdue notices will be sent by email. The fourth overdue notice is sent as a registered letter and an extra 250 CZK are charged (overhead expenses). The fee for sending of a written overdue notice by mail is set according to the valid price list of the postal operator (\u010cesk\u00e1 po\u0161ta) plus 15 CZK of overhead expenses. Thorough information is given in the Appendix No. 4 RD No.36\/2019 \u2013 <u><a href=\"https:\/\/cuni.cz\/UKEN-1167-version1-or_36_2019_eng_app_4.pdf\">List<\/a> of Fees<\/u> and in the Appendix no. 2 of the Code of Operation and of the Loan Rules of the <a href=\"https:\/\/uvi.lf1.cuni.cz\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Appendix1-2_loan_rules.pdf\">ISI library<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-trigger \"><a href=\"#\">There is an overdue fine on my account. Where can I settle this debt?<\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content wc-shortcodes-content\">\n<p>A fine up to 200 CZK can be paid in any <u><a href=\"https:\/\/library.cuni.cz\/libraries\/#libraries\">library of the CU<\/a><\/u>. Fines larger than 200 CZK can only be paid in the exact library, where the debt has originated.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-trigger \"><a href=\"#\">Is it possible to pay the fine by card or from the account on my CU ID card?<\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content wc-shortcodes-content\">\n<p>The fine can be paid by card or by bank transfer. It is, however not possible to pay us from the money you have deposited on your CU ID card.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-trigger \"><a href=\"#\">Can I settle the fine in another way than financially?<\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content wc-shortcodes-content\">\n<p>In case the librarian agrees, you may pay the fine by giving the library compensation in the form of a book (this would of course be of approximately the same price as the fine you owe the library).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-trigger \"><a href=\"#\">What should I do if I lose\/destroy\/damage a borrowed document?<\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content wc-shortcodes-content\">\n<p>If you lose a book, you need to notify the library immediately. A lost document is usually substituted by buying another copy of the same edition, a copy of another edition according to the library\u2019s needs, or by a copy in the same value (informational as well as monetary) according to the library\u2019s needs. Each time a lost document is not substituted by the same title, it is necessary to discuss the particularities with our librarian in advance, so that the new book meets the requirements. Another possibility is a monetary compensation for the lost document.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Catalogue and electronic information resources<\/h2>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion wc-shortcodes-item wc-shortcodes-accordion-collapse wc-shortcodes-accordion-layout-box\" data-behavior=\"autoclose\" data-start-state=\"collapse\">\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-trigger \"><a href=\"#\">Where do I find the library catalogue?<\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content wc-shortcodes-content\">\n<p>Online search in the collections of all CU libraries is possible in Discovery Service <a href=\"https:\/\/ukaz.cuni.cz\/en\">UKA\u017d<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-trigger \"><a href=\"#\">Which electronic information resources (EIR) does the CU offer?<\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content wc-shortcodes-content\">\n<p>Access to the e-resources depends on the specific license agreement. CU e-resources are offered under university-wide licences, consortium licences for some faculties (1<sup>st<\/sup> FM CU, 2<sup>nd<\/sup> FM CU, and 3<sup>rd<\/sup> FM CU) or licences for individual faculties. A full list of all currently available e-resources and their conditions of use can be found at the <a href=\"https:\/\/ezdroje.cuni.cz\/index.php?lang=en\">Charles University eResources Portal<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-trigger \"><a href=\"#\">Can I use EIR from home as well?<\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content wc-shortcodes-content\">\n<p>Most e-resources offer also the possibility of remote access (from wherever you are). First of all, you need a valid CU ID card and an active password from the <a href=\"https:\/\/ldapuser.cuni.cz\/language\/switch?lang=en\">Charles University Authentication Service<\/a>\u00a0(CAS). Even though you get some password when the card is issued, you have to change it within 5 days, otherwise it expires.\u00a0Then you simply log in. All necessary information concerning direct and remote access can be found at the <a href=\"https:\/\/ezdroje.cuni.cz\/index.php?lang=en\">Charles University eResources Portal<\/a> or \u2013 for some important e-resources \u2013 on our internet pages, section E-resources.<\/p>\n<p>Remote access to e-resources does not depend on the device you use (PC, Mac, tablet, mobile phone\u2026) and its operating system (Windows, Linux, OS X, Android etc.). It is, however, necessary to have a valid user login (see above) \u2013 besides the internet connection, of course.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-trigger \"><a href=\"#\">My remote access does not work. What should I do?<\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content wc-shortcodes-content\">\n<p>The most frequent cause of this issue is password expiration. There are two different ways how to renew your password on the <a href=\"https:\/\/ldapuser.cuni.cz\/language\/switch?lang=en\">Charles University Authentication Service<\/a> webpages:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>If your password expired less than 3 months ago (and you still remember it), you can still log in to the CAS using the old one and change it (set a new password).<\/li>\n<li>If your password expired more than 3 months ago or you have forgotten it, you have to visit some of the CU ID <a href=\"https:\/\/cuni.cz\/UKEN-135.html\">card service centres<\/a> where they will generate a new password for you \u2013 which is only valid for 5 days and you need to change it in the CAS before it expires too.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If neither of these options works, please contact the EIR administrator of the 1<sup>st<\/sup> FM CU and GUH, <a href=\"mailto:jitka.stejskalova@lf1.cuni.cz\">Mgr. Jitka Stejskalov\u00e1<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-trigger \"><a href=\"#\">May registered external users (professional public) use the EIR?<\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content wc-shortcodes-content\">\n<p>Yes but only those resources for which the license agreement allows it. The list of e-resources available to registered external users is to be found at the <a href=\"https:\/\/ezdroje.cuni.cz\/prehled\/?type=externalusers&amp;lang=en\">Charles University eResources Portal<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-trigger \"><a href=\"#\">Is it possible to borrow\/look at a specific thesis which has been defended at the CU?<\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content wc-shortcodes-content\">\n<p>Yes, all theses defended since 2006 are open to public online in the <a href=\"https:\/\/dspace.cuni.cz\/?locale-attribute=en\">Charles University Digital Repository<\/a>. A printed copy may be borrowed as an in-house loan in the library of the faculty where the thesis was defended. Older printed theses from the 1<sup>st<\/sup> FM CU are located in the depository library in <u><a href=\"https:\/\/knihovna.cuni.cz\/rozcestnik\/archiv-lesetice\/\">Le\u0161etice<\/a><\/u>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-trigger \"><a href=\"#\">How to renew books that I have borrowed online?<\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content wc-shortcodes-content\">\n<p>To renew your books,\u00a0you need to sign in to your user\u00a0account. Your username is stated on the CU ID card (User ID \u2013 number bellow the picture, PIN \u2013 barcode).<\/p>\n<p>Sign in in the upper menu (Login CU user).<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>There is a list of your current borrowings (<em>Loans<\/em>), the history of your borrowings (<em>Loan history List<\/em>) and the list of current requests for documents (<em>Hold Requests<\/em>).<\/li>\n<li>Open the <em>Loans<\/em> folder and check your borrowings. You can either <em>Renew All<\/em> or <em>Renew Selected<\/em> books.<\/li>\n<li>The system will then mark those items that have been renewed or tells you the reason why they have not been renewed.<\/li>\n<li>It is not possible to renew books if:\n<ul>\n<li>the title is requested by other users and you are supposed to return the book \u2013 \u201eItem has holds. Patron is not first in hold queue\u201c;<\/li>\n<li>you have reached the maximum loan period (90 days, 720 days) and you have to return this book (you can borrow it again but the book must go through the library system) \u2013 \u201eLoan cannot be renewed\u201c;<\/li>\n<li>the regular loan period is overdue on any of your borrowings (you need to visit or contact the library).<\/li>\n<li>In case the end of your year registration is close, the books will only be renewed till this date.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-trigger \"><a href=\"#\">How to make a request for a book online?<\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"wc-shortcodes-accordion-content wc-shortcodes-content\">\n<p>If you want to make a request:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Search the catalogue and find the title you need (for a quicker result choose to search just the catalog of the 1<sup>st<\/sup> Faculty of Medicine).<\/li>\n<li>To get exact information on particular items (availability, amount), click \u201eLib\/Item\u201c at the chosen record.<\/li>\n<li>There are four states of documents in the system:\n<ul>\n<li>regular loan \u2013 1 month loan period;<\/li>\n<li>study loan \u2013 150 days\u00a0loan period (for non-students 1 month);<\/li>\n<li>strictly in-house loan \u2013 only for in-house study;<\/li>\n<li>deposit \u2013 the book is located in a sub-library (institutes and clinics of the 1<sup>st<\/sup> Faculty of Medicine and General University Hospital).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The request may only be made for the regular and study loans.<\/li>\n<li>The request may only be made if all items of the title are borrowed by someone. It means that there is none item with either regular or study loan state \u201eOn Shelf\u201c. If there is just one on the shelf, you need to come to the library.<\/li>\n<li>To make a request, click \u201eRequest\u201c in the left part of the chart and then confirm your intention by clicking \u201eOK\u201c and then \u201eOK\u201c again.<\/li>\n<li>It doesn\u2019t matter what item you request \u2013 you always queue up at the end of line of waiting users.<\/li>\n<li>When the book is ready for you, you will receive an email.
