{"id":1301,"date":"2023-03-27T19:38:06","date_gmt":"2023-03-27T17:38:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uvi.lf1.cuni.cz\/en\/?p=1301"},"modified":"2023-03-27T19:38:06","modified_gmt":"2023-03-27T17:38:06","slug":"exploring-the-berlin-collection","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uvi.lf1.cuni.cz\/en\/exploring-the-berlin-collection\/","title":{"rendered":"Exploring the Berlin Collection"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"pf-content\"><p>New project on the Berlin collection has just launched at the First Faulty of Medicine! <a href=\"https:\/\/uvi.lf1.cuni.cz\/historicke-fondy\/historic-collections-map\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Last time<\/a>, I discovered that books marked by the former libraries <em>P\u00e9pini<\/em><em>\u00e8re<\/em>, <em>Friedrich-Wilhelms-Institut<\/em>,<em> Kaiser-Wilhelms-Akademie<\/em>, and<em> Deutsche \u00c4rzte-B\u00fccherei<\/em> were indeed moved to our medical library after 1945 and were not originally part of the collections, as was believed. For that purpose, a theme-collection on obstetrics was chosen as a sample.<\/p>\n<p>Now my aim is to make a complete database of provenance entries in the whole collection of the faculty\u2019s rare prints that once belonged to these Berlin institutions. Regardless of the topic.<\/p>\n<p>I wish to connect the individual books with their original library-catalogue entries. Thus, the documentation of the library\u2019s provenance will be improved. And the historic context of the 1945 transfer would be clarified.<\/p>\n<p>Further visualisation with help of external data sources is to be enabled once the primary work is done.<\/p>\n<p>First step will be building the database of shelfmarks (old ones as well as the current ones), and basic descriptions of the books.
